International In-Person Competition

15 categories · 3 sections · in person. For classical guitar soloists, chamber groups, and guitar ensembles or orchestras.

The International In-Person Competition comprises 15 categories across three clearly defined sections: Classical Guitar — Soloists, Chamber Music, and Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras. Choose a section, then select the category that matches your age and type of participation.

Who it is for: Classical guitar soloists, chamber groups of two to five performers, and ensembles or orchestras of at least six performers.

Each category leads to its age groups and the full regulation.

Classical Guitar — Soloists

7 categories · from “up to 9 years” to “no age restrictions” · performed from memory. A solo section for classical guitarists; the category with no age restrictions is held in two rounds.

Chamber Music

4 age groups · 2–5 performers · at least one classical guitar. For duos, trios, quartets, and quintets that include at least one classical guitar.

Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras

4 groups · at least 6 performers · at least one classical guitar. For ensembles and orchestras that may also include other instruments, singers, a teacher performing as part of the ensemble, and/or a conductor.
